It's funny how life has a way of bringing people from your family's past into your life. We found out that Ryan Bell's great grandfather and my great grandfather played against each other in 1938 in the University of Texas and A&M game. My great grandfather played for UT, while Ryan's great grandfather played for A&M. Another crazy fact is that they both had the same number...37. The final score of the game was 7 to 6 with the win going to UT. We don't know if our great grandfathers knew each other or not, but I am sure if they did, they would have been great friends like Ryan and me.
Oma and Nana surprised us tonight with showing us the actual Football Program from the night they played against each other.
They then surprised us with special jerseys that had our great grandfathers numbers on the back, and their class information on the shoulder. Ryan and I loved them!
We put them on right away. We were proud to wear their numbers!
We are so thankful to our grandmothers for sharing these memories with us and making our jerseys. It was a special night that we will never forget. We are sure that our great grandfathers were looking down from heaven smiling at us.
