Have you ever heard the saying, "When it rains, it pours"? Well, our April started out with thunderstorms.....Evan had been running fever since Thursday, March 22. On March 25, mom and dad finally took him to the Minute Clinic and found out he had an ear infection.
Two days later (Tuesday), he was still running fever. Dad took him to Beaumont Pediatric, and they said he had a chest infection as well as his ear infection. The doctor gave him a different antibiotic to try to help them both go away.
Two MORE days later (Thursday-one whole week of fever), Evan was STILL running fever. Mom finally called the doctor, and she sent them to Baptist Hospital to take chest X-rays. Unfortunately, Evan was diagnosed with pnemonia!!! He had to get two painful shots on Thursday and then two more on Friday. He was screaming and crying. They were such bad shots, they put a numbing medicine in them to help with the pain. I wanted to cry for him!
On Saturday, Evan was STILL running fever so mom and dad rushed him to the emergency room. I was so scared for him. Evan was very upset and didn't want to go. Dad tried to make him laugh at the hospital by buying fake mustaches for him and Evan to wear.

The ER doctor decided to do another X-ray, and it showed that Evan's lungs had more fluid in them than on Thursday. His doctor decided to admit him to the hospital to help get him well. He had to get an IV in his arm. He was so brave. He didn't even flinch or cry when they stuck the IV in.
He did get to sleep in a pretty cool though! The head and foot of the bed could be raised up and down. He could call the nurse with a push of a button.

The hospital stay wasn't all that bad. Evan had a Wii in his room and got to watch movies all day. He had all kinds of visitors too. He had all his family come see him, along with all his friends. I hope Evan realizes how blessed he is to have such a wonderful family and friends. He also had a clown come to visit him, a dog, and some high school kids came to dye Easter eggs with him. His class from school even sent him homemade cards. They were so sweet. It really lifted his spirits.
The hardest part of Evan being in the hospital was that he had to miss a baseball tournament. He was devastated about it! It was so hard for him to be in the hospital when he knew his team was playing without him. His teammates and coaches were nice enough to come visit and let him know that he was missed.
The second worse thing that Evan hated about being in the hospital was all his HOMEWORK!!!! His make up work is about two inches thick. I really felt sorry for him when I saw all that work.
Daddy slept a lot at the hospital! When we were bored, we would shoot him with a Nerf dart gun that Oma bought Evan. We also threw Krabby Patties at him that Mo Mo had given him. It was fun, and it helped pass the time. Daddy was a good sport! Every now and then he would open his eyes and just look at us. Mom couldn't stop laughing!
Poor Evan was in the hospital for six long days! He ran fever for 13 days straight. After four shots, five different antibiotics, three X-rays, and a whole lot of Motrin and Tylenol he was finally well enough to come home. We were all so excited for him to come home. I was glad to have my family back together again! His class was so nice, they made a sign to welcome him home. When Evan got home he said, "There is no place like home!"
