She Shoots, She Scores, She Wins!!!

Ava's team has had a rough season so far.  They haven't won any games until TODAY!  Ava has worked so hard all season to try to get their first win.  She scored her first two goals today.  She was on fire on the field.  She played almost the whole game.  She played forward and defender.  We are so proud of her and happy of her hard work and accomplishment!

Homecoming

After school, we rushed out to Boston Avenue to enjoy the Homecoming Parade.  We met up with some of our friends.

When we heard the parade coming, we quickly got our spots on the road to try to catch some candy.  We all had our bags ready!

The parade was great.  We watched the bands, cheerleaders, homecoming court, and football players all go by.  The floats were pretty cool too.

We hurried home after the parade to get ready for dinner with our friends at La Cantina.  After dinner, we headed out for the game.

I sat with my friends in the stands.  Ava was asked by Kaylee to go sit with her until halftime.  During the game, we saw Adam with his date.  I thought it would be funny to send him silly text messages from my mom's phone.  All my friends got a kick out of it too!

After halftime, Ava came and sat with us.  Soon after, Campbell Spell asked her to come sit with her.  They cheered and cheered all night.  I think they were practicing for when they are cheerleaders.

It was a great night with friends.  The Bulldogs also won the game!

Fire It Up!

It is homecoming week for the Bulldogs!  We showed our school spirit by attending the annual bonfire at the Bulldog Stadium.  We joined our friends as we watched them light the fire.

The fire was so big and hot that we couldn't face it for very long.  We had fun just visiting and playing with friends.  We hope that it will help pump the football players up for a win this Friday.  

The firefighters asked us to take a picture with them.  They are going to hang it up in the new Fire Station!

We had a blast at the bonfire and are looking forward to next year.

Serving Our Country

Evan was asked to raise and lower the flag everyday at Helena Park.  He was very honored to be chosen for this duty.  He takes great pride in raising the flag every morning.  One day, my mom was ONE minute late, and Evan didn't get to raise the flag.  He was so mad that he told Mom that he didn't get to serve his country that day because we were late.  Mom thought it was funny that he made that comment.  He has done a great job showing his pride in our Country.

Kickin' It

It is time for some soccer!  Today was our first soccer games of the season.  Ava's game was bright and early at 8:30.  She played her little heart out.  Unfortunately, Ava's team didn't win.  She hustled and looked great on the field.  I think she is the best player on her team!

I had my first game at 4:00.  We played hard and tough.  My team came away with our first victory of the season.  I played fullback and mid-field.  Mom and Dad said I looked awesome on the field.   We are looking forward to a great season.

Helena Park Night

It was Helena Park Night at the Bulldog football game.  We put on our school colors and our black and gold and headed out to the field.  Before the game, we all line the sidewalk to cheer on the football players as they enter the stadium.

I think Brodie and Ryan were the only ones looking at my mom while she took the picture.  We talked Ryan into representing Helena Park with us that night.

My friends all got together and smiled big.

After the players headed out on the field, we all walked down the track to do a few cheers to pump up the players.

Dad was in charge of the pictures, and I am not thinking he did that great of job.  He forgot to take a picture of Evan and his friends cheering.  Mom was sad because this was Evan's last year to participate in Helena Park Night.  Hopefully, some of her friends got a good photo of the boys on the track.  Evan and I had a great night supporting our school and the Bulldogs.

Labor Day Cup

Evan's soccer team headed out to compete in the Labor Day Cup.  This was one of their first very competitive soccer tournaments.  The tournament started on Saturday.  The boys had two shut outs that day.  The first game was 3-0 and the second game was 5-0.  They played some good soccer that day.

Camryn and I enjoyed dancing on the stage between the games.  They did every dance from the chicken dance to the limbo to YMCA!  It was nice to have something for the girls to do!

Our hotel was awesome!  We stayed at the Omni.  They had a pond with fish that we could feed.  We also would pet them with our hands.

That night we celebrated the boys hard work and the sisters great support by all going to eat mexican food at Lupe Tortillas.  Mexican is my favorite food!!!

Time for funny faces.

The next day the boys had two more great games.  The first game was a breeze.  The boys won 9-0.  The second game was a close one.  They tied 1-1.  Ryan Bell saved us by making two great saves in the goal.  His new nickname is Superman!  The boys were headed to the championship the next day!

The Championship game had a rough start.  At half time, Evan's team was down 2-0.  The boys came back out the second half ready to fight for victory.  They played their hearts out and came out with a 4-3 win.  We were all so excited for the boys and proud of their hard work.  Evan played with determination and heart.  He did great!

The boys were surprised when they found out that Brian Ching from the Houston Dynamos was going to give out their trophies.  What an honor!  Evan also had him sign his trophy.

What Evan didn't know was that during his championship game, I stood in line to get Brian Ching to sign a soccer ball for him.  I gave Evan the ball after the game, and he was so excited.

Evan and his buddies took a few victory pictures after the trophies were passed out.

Dad was proud of Evan.  He said he played awesome.  Dad couldn't believe they won such a big tournament.  Dad and Evan couldn't stop smiling.

Mom and I know that Evan really appreciates all of our support.  He says we are his two biggest cheerleaders!  I told mom that I really enjoyed spending the weekend with her.  I think I made her heart smile when I said that.  It was a great way to spend our Labor Day weekend.
